The most exciting part of the planning for the Bride is finding your dress, right? Of course it is, you get to feel like a princess every time you try a different dress. Although, there are some aspects that should be considered before you take the plunge.
The excitement of the beautiful dresses hanging so perfectly in the bridal shops can be overwhelming and if you’re anything like me you always chose the most expensive item no matter what it is. It’s best to determine your budget BEFORE you go and ALWAYS tell the salesperson before they chose something too and you fall in love with something you may not be able to afford. Trust me you don’t want to be paying off your wedding dress for the next 5 years!
Being the bride means you are the one who sets the rules. Planning your dress around the venue is ideal. For example, if you’re having a formal wedding a floaty boho dress with a flower crown will look a little out of place.
One of the biggest factors to take into consideration is your body shape. Try researching styles before you book an appointment so you have an idea of what to pick out. The salesperson will doc course step in to give you a hand so it doesn't feel like too much of a daunting experience.
Don’t forget yo add on your shoes and accessories such as your veil and jewellery. Another hide costs is alterations and unfortunately there is no way around this one. Try to incorporate as many of these if not all in your dress budget.
You are going to be wearing your dress for roughly 8-12 hours so it is most important you feel comfortable from the minute you step in to your dress to minute you step out of it.
From experience, dress shopping is fun, however research was the the biggest thing I didn’t do which meant I was always trying on the same style and not falling love with anything I was trying on. In the end, I took the opinion of the Lorraine (salesperson) and found the most perfect and beautiful dress I could have ever imagined. The moment you find the one, your wedding will start to feel real.
If you were to close your eyes and imagine your big day, what exactly do you see?
The location is most likely going to be one of the most important decisions you are going to make. Here are a few tips to consider when choosing the venue for your wedding.
Before choosing the perfect venue, it’s a good idea to have an estimated number of guests you plan to invite. Knowing a rough idea will help narrow down your search from day 1.
You will of course be adding your own sense of style to the venue you chose however there are lots of aspects that cannot be changed. It’s best to choose somewhere not too far from the style and feel you envisage for the day. For example a marquee wedding is probably not the best option for a black tie affair.
Unless you are lucky enough to work with an unlimited budget, money is certainly an important factor to consider. From my experience it’s best to have lots of questions to ask such as what’s included in the package they offer and what additional costs there will be.
All venue are different and through research you will realise what your likes and dislikes are. Look into each venue in detail as some locations provide the likes of tables, chairs, glassware and others may just provide the space meaning everything else will need to be hired.
Don’t be afraid to ask about cleanliness and upkeep of the venue. For example what kind of staffing will there be on your big day? Make sure their standards match yours.
